At least it doesn’t drop 10 calls a day in the middle of a conversation.

A LAN line- commonly referred to as a land line- stands for local area network.

Not to be too technical about it, but…

a LAN is a Local Area Network, such as an intra-office computer network, and has nothing to do with telephones, while a Land Line is a telephone that is hardwired into the overall telephone network via those wires that run between those things called telephone poles along the side of the street.

I still have a land line. It runs the computer and if the electricity goes out and my cell phone is dead, I still have a phone.
