The mascot of one of the University of California branches is the banana slug. I met an alumnus from there once and gained considerable status in that I had actually seen a banana slug and he hadn’t. (The are large and yellow, I don’t know their taste, smell, or diet other than the usual vegies.
Ticks and most other types of blood-sucking critters are spreading Lyme Disease. Lyme is an epidemic. Don’t mess with it and get treated early or you will be ill for years.
