My dad would always say “we got pop on ice, not sure where mom is?” And we did after a while just call it soda, pop kinda went out of style. So did my dad, come to think of it, but we kept him around just the same!
I always thought it was depending on which side of the country you were from. Westerners seem to call it “POP” and Easterner call it “SODA.” Either way it’s the same thing, Potato Pototo.

Soda is what you mix scotch with. If you call pop soda and the bartender mixes grape Nehi with your Cutty Sark you got what you ordered.
