At school we had milk delivered in glass bottles for our hot lunches in the winter months, but we didn’t have milk delivery at home, we got milk from the store in glass bottles t’ll the cartons came along.
And eggs. But now the MPG and insurance for the new armored milk trucks would make impractical. Robe and pajama clad mobs swarming the truck in the chilly early morning darkness. The driver’s traditional white garb made them easy to single out.

I remember that the cream would separate from the rest of the milk. I also remember the glass bottles the milk was delivered, with their pressed paper plug and the tin foil over the top.

He got it from the dairy. The big ones in St. Louis were Sealtest and Pevely, back in the ’50s.

At 65 I’m too young, we never had such service. Saw it on TV shows though.

I’m 64 and definitely remember the milkman in NY on Long Island. In fact, my grandfather was a milkman in the Bronx.

I still have a milk man deliver milk to my house once a week. There are at least two dairies in the Denver area that do this.
