I’ve been attending Trek cons since the 80s but Nimoy was always a hard “get” for any con. Finally got to see him speak at a Smithsonian-sponsored event when he was promoting his second biography and met him briefly during the book-signing afterwards. He was a quite a (no way to avoid the word) fascinating man.

Gene Roddenberry couldn’t have picked a better actor than Leonard Nimoy to play the role of Spock.
