Humans are the most expert predator of all time. We kill for other reasons and not for food. And we can make billions of them disappear never to return like the Passenger Pigeon for their plumage for lady’s hats. That was the reason, ladie’s’ stupid hats.
Passenger pigeons were rarely used in millinery; it was the American egret’s mating plumage that got them close to extinction, saved only by public revulsion over a game warden being killed trying to protect them. Today, such murder would only bring a pile of lies to blame the victim.
