I remember him from the late 1960s. Years later, I learned he had more history, when I read a few reprints of his 1940s stories. In doing a little googling for this comment, I was surprised to learn that he didn’t start out as a DC character. He was originally published by Quality Comics, and when they went under in 1956, DC acquired their characters.
