Kat: Ok, here we go! show time! Heart: break a leg, Kat! Kat: you too, Heart! Heart: you're gonna be a sensation! Heart: I taught her everything she knows about star power! Boy: I just work the curtains lady.
I used to volunteer at a university’s theater and drama dept. The “I’m gonna be a star” attitude was pervasive despite this being a small midwestern city. Oddly the übertalented MFA actors were always incredibly humble, or at least, convincingly pretended to be; and accepted the fact that their destiny was sales, teaching, administration, corporate liaison, etc. with theater as a hobby.
