As a teen I wanted and “had” long hair. Much to dads dismay. One time he was after me about it. “If you are living under my roof. Go get your hair cut!” Since everyone on both sides of my family have no hair I knew my chances of getting “of the age” with hair were slim to none. I asked him, “Why can’t I have long hair while I HAVE hair?” Mom just looked at his and said “He has a point!” Not another word was said about my hair. I had hair at 38. At 39 it was gone.
I wish i was bald. i hate getting hair cuts, but because I work around food i have to keep my hair short. My brother was bald by age 25 and at age 51 my hair still grows about 2 inches a month. My hair has always grown fast.
I grew up with a father who was bald, and I don’t recall ever hearing a negative word about it. Certainly he never considered wasting time or money on a toupee, and my mom didn’t have a problem with it (he was already bald when they met). So when my hair started thinning in my 20s and over time went on to full on male pattern baldness, it didn’t matter to me at all. What annoys me are the products (with their exaggerated claims) that push the idea that such natural baldness is a “problem” for which they have the “cure.”

I recently became bald, not by choice, as the result of chemo treatment.
