I well remember that feeling, Brother. I pastored a church and I pretty much knew the income of everyone who attended. You could count on it that the most well endowed gave the least of all. One family ran a business and easily brought in $45K/month but thought $20 was enough for their weekly tithe. Another lady lived on Social Security and gave four times that much.
My wife found a new church. She was excited about it, and asked me to come to a meeting they were having. It turned out to be the first meeting for new members. They handed out packets. I kid you not, the first chapter was “Tithing.” It actually said “Tithing literally means ‘The First Tenth. That’s ten percent off the gross, not the net.” Just like Rev. Lovejoy in the Simpsons. We didn’t become members…

I do not want to belong to any church that requires you to send in an envelope with your teeth in it!

Use cash, the banking system doesn’t need to know. Unmarked envelopes won’t tell the church bookkeeper, either. God knows.

I have my tales of messed up messages and tithing but I don’t want them to reflect a bad image on the Creator,
They’re only people after all..
