Think he’s bummed now? How will he feel in two years when his daughter is driving down the street, cans dragging behind the limo, and a sign which reads “Just Divorced”.
All three of our daughters were working full time when they got married. Hubby and I gave them a certain amount of money, told them I’d do the cake, and they could pay the difference. Nice reception at the fire hall – you don’t need the Ritz-Carlton.
My father-in-law paid for his second daughter’s first wedding quite some number of years ago (she’s now on hubby #3, BTW, FWIW). When I married his first daughter a little over 16 years ago — her first marriage as well as mine — he didn’t even offer to pay for any of it.

Maybe the government can come up with some sort of daughter insurance plan.

Herman, if you think that she is gone now, wait 5 years when she moves back in with 3 kids.
