I remember that was actually a plot point in the old 60’s Batman show. Penguin was running for mayor against Batman. He got political points for the kissing babies routine, but Batman refused – citing it was actually unhygienic for everyone involved.

I wonder if kissing babies has become less common now that herpes has become more common.

Politicians no longer kiss babies; they steal their candy — and are proud of it.

As a mother, why would I want some strange person kissing my baby? Ugh.

Sadly, a lot of candidates without ‘backbones’ got ‘kissed’ into office ….
