My wife started whispering that she wasn’t allowed to talk on the phone without my permission. For once I caught on soon enough and started yelling “Who you talking with, woman?” and other nonsense. She started crying and begging, banged the phone around a bit and hung up. I can only hope that the telemarketer believed us. Or maybe that was her mom?

I like to answer in German and they just hang up quick. One of these days I’ll get somebody that speaks German — then what?
