Sounds like Dad died early and Hubbs was brought up only by mom. Mom worries about him and he respects her. Underlying his comments it is obvious he doesn’t agree with her (panel 2), but he loves her, so he is willing to accept it. Like it or not, “That takes a REAL man!”

Takes a lot of muscle to wrestle a motorcycle. Mom Hubbs probably thought he didn’t have it.

Has “The Hubbs” shrunk a bit?
