Sheesh, Hubbs has completely forgotten he IS an amazing football player, everything else he’s thinking is just a distraction! I bet he can play circles around any of those NFU players, no matter how tough Bea makes them!
So panel#3, did Hubbs’ mother lock him in his room? She comes off as overbearing and not into him playing football, but I have no doubt she’s a doting mother who loves him, and I can’t believe she’d do that to him. Also great use of space in panel#4, I now consider Bea among the Great German Illusionists! XD
I think Ellie’s going somewhere with this, past tragedies have made him stronger and trying to prove someone wrong is one of the best incentives you can have. He can do that if he makes the best out of his past and present to create the future he wants! (That’s what I got from her anyway) ;D
We’ve seen that Hubbs is quite good at football. Al caught his big pass on the field. He wouldn’t think he was a nobody if he knew he’d already won Ellie’s heart. Unwrap your gift, Hubbs. You’re in for the surprise of a lifetime.
Well Bea, you did it again. Going where none of us thought you would. Amazing story and of course your art is perfect. Frame #2 so uplifting, #3 so sad, and #4 the perfect depiction of absolute boredom. And of course Ellie, the great optimist in #5. Great job!

Al, I’m not sure if that’s helping Hubbs.

And she is only one who can catch (survive?) his pass?

An accountant..? That must be painful. So he’d rather be playing football, but I guess things just didn’t work out that way.

Pro teams often hold open tryouts, y’know. (Nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say no more…)

Panel #4 …
Monumental in its level of soul-crushing portentousness. ✨❤️✨Neo Stryder about 6 years ago

Why did they put baby Hubbs in a box?

He reminds me now, all large inside that little cube, of Mr. Incredible.
And to a lesser degree, Aladdin’s Genie.
