jenn erica: Omigosh! IS that--? It is! It's tarzan!! ooooh, I just love him!! woman: uh... jenn erica: you tarzan, me jenn! whaddya say we get outta here, handsome? jenn erica: Yabbadabba doo!!!! jenn erica: not one word...
Could’ve been worse - might’ve thought Barney was Phillip Seymour Hartman.
@Coyoty - for monkeying around… ;-)
BTW It always struck me odd that a Hollywood “writer” added the clichéd monkey(not in ER Burrough’s books) & gave it the name of a jungle cat. Think he had a clue?
vanpelt, as I understand the conventions of the strip, the bar caters to those fictional characters whose primary existence has been as a drawing (comic books, comic strips, animation). Tarzan originally appeared as words on paper rather than graphics, but his comic strip has been around long enough to get him in the door. (Of course, as Jenn Erica discovers, it’s not really Tarzan in the bar at all.)
On the other hand, it seems like I might remember an appearance or two by characters from fantasy or SciFi books or movies (Luke Skywalker, maybe? Frodo Baggins?) whose existence as drawings, even if not entirely absent (the “Star Wars” comic books, for instance), has been negligible.
(“Appearance” isn’t really the right word. Characters not created by Phil Dunlap may visit the bar from time to time, but they’re never seen and almost never even heard - today’s “Yabba Dabba Doo!” is a rare exception.)

She’d call him a Cheetah instead of Tarzan.

Lord Graystoke, reased by the Mongony apes (not Gorillas)
Manu the monkys was a near contant company, but no chimps.
Tarzan was a Tarmongony, the naitive Africans were called Gomongony, by the Mongony apes.
I’ve read 9 or 10 out of the 24 Tarzan books ( dose it show)
As for fooling around with Fredrick J Flintstone, be careful Wilma dose not find out.

Goes to show, most contempary people will not reconized a classic cartoon character.
You never know, Fred maybe only married on the TV show, but not in the “Real” cartoon world.

It could have been worse, it might have been George (of the Jungle).
