That was one of the things I found ridiculous about the new 52 for Superman. Invulnerable, but his suit is “battle armor” now.
This is partly why I like anime a bit more than comics. Their superhero suits are usually casual clothes. Vegeta and Gohan as Great Saiyaman from DBZ have the closest thing to traditional superhero garb I can think of if the character isn’t going for that trope.

Actually, it makes sense for superman to have battle armour. He might be invulnerable to everything, but his suit wasn’t… and winding up accidentally naked is just as embarrassing for him as anyone else.
