Charles Barkley said there are no role models in sports. He did a Nike commercial, looked into the camera and said, “I am not a role model.”

The Mick, when he was dying of liver cancer, told kids, “Don’t be like me.”

And Barkley told kids that their parents should be role models–not the guy whose picture is on the Wheaties box.

Jor-El Re the Mick: I always remember the quote: ” If I’d known I was gonna live this long, I’d have taken a lot better care of myself.”

I don’t have to go the Doctor to have him/her tell me to “Lose weight & get more exercise!” My dog & I are both on a diet & she loves to go for walks!

jackson is more than likely the highest paid player on the team and all he had to do is be a role model, he needs to be trsted for roids and other drugs more than the other players

Hey Steve I was so shock today 7/13/09 to see my name on your cartoon. It took me back to the old days of grammar school, my brothers all think you are talking about them. I am trying to get a hold of Joe Sheedy, to see if he saw the cartoon. You have made my week. Thanks Jim

I was a little shocked, too, being a St. Francis alum and seeing the names Sheedy and Orlandini. But I didn’t know what edition of either family was being referred to. My era was with Robert and Tim Sheedy, and John O (who I was SURE was not a candidate for either role model or shortstop).
