He’s going to do a lot more than one marathon! A marathon measures 42.195 Km (26 miles, 385 yards), so 472,000 laps means that each lap would be a mere 8.94 cm (3.52 inches) long. The lap is clearly more than that!

Before the shutdown, I worked at a building where a lap on my floor was .26 miles. 100 laps is a marathon.

Luckily for me, the basement is not fully carpeted, so i can do this, when it is raining too hard for my daily 10k steps.the last couple of times, the rain brought with it high winds, which was another problem, I need to get a new umbrella.

Ladies! Make it more fun and challenging by hollering random numbers while he runs. If you are really good at it, you can either shorten the run, or prolong it indefinitely, whichever suits you.

Let’s see, 26.2 miles is 138336 feet, so that is about 3.5 inches per lap. Oh well, maybe math isn’t one of his talents, though I do enjoy the comics. :-)

That’s one heck of an ultramarathon. If we assume the runner is 6’ tall, that room is about 12′×12′. He’s not going all the way to each wall, so let’s say his ‘lap’ is 10′×10′. That means each lap is 40’. 40′ × 472 000 = 18 880 000’, or 3575 miles. 3575 miles LEFT. How many did he start with?

I heard an interview on NPR recently with a guy who did just this thing, only in his backyard. I just can’t understand why he saw it as necessary to run a marathon there. It would’ve been infinitely more pleasant to run it on the road.

26.2 miles is 138,336 feet, so his lap is roughly 3.5 inches long if he is doing a marathon. If he is running in a 10′×10′ room and doing 8′×8′ laps, then 472,000 laps is just over 2,860 miles. :)
