My phone plays through my hearing aids via bluetooth. I answer by clapping my ear twice. It really freaks some people out when I appear to hit myself in the head and then start talking to the empty air.
Phone etiquette is really something that people need try out. For the most part it’s quite simple to say I’m in a cafe, store, Dr. office, or whatever, I’ll call you back. Continuing to talk while being a customer is just plain rude. A person who is serving you deserves your attention. After all, you are expecting their full attention. I always try to behave this way. I’ve had a few lapses when dealing with clients. Totally avoidable.
Guy at the laundromat this week talked to himself the whole time. At first I thought he was on the phone via ear thingys but then he started singing, and not with the music that was playing on the speakers in the building, then went back to talking. Wasn’t bothersome, not loud, just wish he didn’t smell so stongly of cigarettes.

This is one of the main reasons why, if I’m out and about and need a cup of coffee, I stop at a gas station.
