Fans can be strange. I think the first time this became better known was during the “I Love Lucy” TV show, when Lucille Ball would get fan mail giving her advice on what to do and not to do — as if she really was “Lucy Ricardo”, her TV character.Seems quite a few people have difficulty distinguishing fantasy from reality. SO when a fantasy ticks them off, they might want to strike back — for real …Which is why smart celebrities never reveal their real life address. You never know what kind of kooks might want to look you up.

of course, the problem these days in the Information Age is actually keeping your address secret. Enter your street address in Google some time, and see if the top ten hits don’t include a site that lists the name of the property owner, the folks who live there (like YOU), and the names of nearest neighbors.

The people who hate Funky Winkerbean are the worst. They take a perverse joy in making nasty remarks about it.

Well, Robb, if you’re hearing from maniacs, I’m sorry. You’re one of the most talented cartoonists working today. Great artist, outstanding dialog, well-developed characters that we care about, and some deep, important themes. Keep doing what you do.
