Got my smallpox and cholera shots logged somewhere. Not sure what I got in recruit class, but it was both arms and not optional when you sign up for Queen and Country
I’m going to say, that would definitely make Ohio a fly over state for me. Glad I visited the Rock and Hall of Fame museum when it was still safe to do so.
It used to be, as an adult, you only had to stay current on those if you travel to certain countries. I’m thinking if some states are going that direction, I may have to talk to my doctor about staying current on all of those just to live in the USA.
Republicans destroying America as fast as they can. I’m just not sure which country they are weakening us for invasion. Pretty sure Russia is their preferred pick, but would think China would want to get in on that action.
Evidently the Ohio Opinion Polls (OOPS?) hath indicated a majority of voters have a problem with smarter and more educated people telling them what to do to save their worthless lives.
That’s why they chose $omeone $o $tupid to be their governor, but that’s just my opinion.
Do read what Wikipedia has to say about him, and make up your own mind:
Whose side is Jordan on? Human beings or microbes? Can viruses form a PAC? If so, they would definitely support Jordan. That sign he carries is just a prop — a scythe for human harvest is better suited. Likely his favorite old paintings are by Hieronymus Bosch.
Why are we still paying attention to ANYTHING Jim Jordan says or indicates in print?
It’s already well documented that Representative Jordan totally ignored all the complaints about sexual improprieties while he was with Ohio State University as a wrestling coach. What attention should we pay to a person who can ignore the complaints of children about sexual abuse – and we will ignore, for the moment, the needed discussion of just exactly what kind of “crazy” would actually “elect” someone like that to represent them in Congress, since we already know that most “republicans” are “bat-shit” crazy.
The anti-vaxxers who like most of us received “their shots” as children have absolutely no reason not to accept the Covid-19 shot(s). On the other hand Jimbo is playing to his audience as Fux Spews does theirs and doesn’t give a rat’s rear whether they survive or not as long they vote (while they can) or give good ratings……oh a by the way, Jimbo doesn’t have that much hair!
Humans seem to have a built-in tendency to overestimate the cost of a small probability of bad outcome. This was probably a Darwinian thing from back when that sound from the path ahead MIGHT be a tiger. And of course folks who don’t have that tend to die from the “hold my beer and watch this” syndrome while they’re still immature.
HOWEVER, that built in tendency is a very bad thing when something that is very good in general MAY cause you to have a bad outcome. Vaccines, for instance, do cause some trouble, but the ones that get through the FDA gauntlet all have a VERY small probability of any negative effect worse than “aches and maybe fever” and at least a REASONABLY HIGH probability that they’ll be helpful. Under ordinary circumstances, people are able to override their genetic propensity when they think about the math… but lately two bad things have happened:
1: People have become, on average, far less numerate than people my age are
2: The Q-folk have decided to make the issue political. Which plays more strongly because point 1 applies very strongly to the same group.
All that said, I’m. Just. Done: With the anti vaxxers. They can either get vaccinated, or by my preference, be locked into a ‘covid Coventry’. Share your illnesses with each other and stop making ME solve YOUR idiot problems.
Wow I never knew microbes would get political. Oh that’s right science is all political nowadays…they’ll find out too late that natural immunity beats vaxxines any day.
