Chepe: Boy, those "tea party" activists sure like to throw a lot of stuff around. You notice on thing they're not tossing? Pepe: What's that? Chepe: Their government disability checks.
Hey JOE, don’t know about you but I paid close to $100,000 in required Social Security payments over my work career and my employer paid the same. How the heck am I getting anything from the government. If I had invested that money in a simple stock index averaging 8%, with compounding I would have a tidy little nest egg. If I put that into an annuity, I would be getting a much bigger check
Roosevelt rammed SS down the throats of a scared nation by packing the court with more justices than it had ever seen. The very idea that a benevolent government can handle my retirement income better than me fly straight in the face of freedom. Why did we do so well on our 401Ks without government intervention? You say people lost money on their retirements a few years ago. Why did they take their money out when the market was down? Duh?
I planned for my retirement. Social security was just a small part of that planning. Isn’t that what they said when it was passed? But the government took 7.5% of my check every payday and another 7.5% from my employer.. They owe me that, with interest. I paid my dues.
hey, here it is 9AM and no defenders of liberty have jumped in here singing the praises of the teabaggers, claiming they are legitimate and have a genuine concern for getting their country back–
–as they bring signs saying ‘we came unarmed–this time’ and ‘thank you fox news for keeping us infromed (sic)” and ‘down with mexicans, respect are (sic) country, speak english” and “no amensty” (sic) and “let mitt fix washinton (sic)” etc etc….
How can you possible stand the fact that millions of folks who really benefit from Social Security aren’t on the street starving to death. Isn’t it just disgusting that we don’t have that misery to entertain ourselves? The only benefit I can imagine is that it’s less likely that we might trip over one of them and break our hip someday.
By the way, your apparently uninhibited selfishness is only exceeded by your unsurpassed ignorance.
The Supreme Court has nine members, just as it had before Roosevelt attempted to add members during his second term.
Huge opposition prevented Roosevelt from doing so. That nine member court upheld the constitutionality of Social Security. This in turn stopped the move to pack.
You did not even bother to check your ignorance through Google. No wonder the lies propagated by right-wing loonies are so effective in fooling too many people some of the time.
I suggest that you rethink your uninformed opinions.
hey lowrider, if the Republicans have their way and sweep back into office in November, you’ll have a chance to test just how depression-proof that portfolio of yours really is!

Hey, Lewreader,
I paid in close to $100K, and retired at just over 66 1/2 years old. Now getting about $2250/month from SS - what’s to complain about?

Nine days to Tax Day.
Taxation can be tyranny even WITH representation.
