Abortion, birth control etc are all choices that someone is going to make. We aren’t really arguing about that. The question is who is going to make the choice, the woman involved or a bunch of politicians who don’t even know her or her situation?I’ve never had an abortion but I would if the child was going to have a miserable life- either because it was defective or because I lived in a situation I couldn’t improve. But, I know my situation, some old guys in the capitol don’t, and I have the right to choose.

On the other hand (the left hand, of course) the Obsessive Liberals describe women as dependent creatures, needing government’s help in controlling their personal lives. In both cases, you and I are talking about political extremes. “Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to my right…”

Ayn Rand had a brilliant analysis of the contradiction you identify. Both sides accept the mind-body dichotomy, but they come down on different sides. The Left wants to control your economic choices while leaving your soul free. The Right wants your economic actions free but they will control your soul. This reveals for each side what they consider important: the Left sees the soul (meaning the mind) as unimportant and the (religious) Right sees the body as unimportant. In reality, they are integrated aspects of a human being and cannot be separated.

“The Left SAYS they want to leave your soul free…” But they’re a tad fuzzy on your personal health unless you do it their way.

A lot of comments on what “the left” believes. As if you had a clue; neither do the people who tell you what you believe.The “left” doesn’t look to the government to tell them when life begins, and you want to tell the government when life begins. How about we let the woman decide for herself.And you want to control our souls, as well.
