Seriously, isn’t the idea to improve the human condition, to become better as a species? And if not, then why bother with education, non-military technological innovation, and all the rest? Remember, Hobbes was writing against a human existence that would be “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”…………………………………………………………………….Has happened to my family a couple generations ago. Thankfully we were advanced enough to rebuild ourselves and our countries. You have to get on with your lives and not live in the past, just ensure you are able to protect your borders from invasion. A very good example of this view is the USSR’s establishment of satellite states on it’s western border with western Europe. When you have repeatedly been invaded and laid to waist, you learn to prepare for the next aggressor. And as for Agrestic’s desire to better the human species, yes I would desire that also. However as soon as a human senses that they are going to be deprived of sustenance or comfort and they see a weaker human with what they need, they will attack or at least attempt to bargain for what they need. The only non-aggressive human is one that has all their wants and desires satisfied.

Unfortunately where do you stop? You look at any nations or areas history and it is nothing but a blood bath and that includes the mighty Inca and Aztec empires and African tribes. Much as we don’t like it, humans are not nice creatures.

If you want to do something, attempt to stop the killing on the streets of our cities. Between the gang killing, domestic violence, shopkeepers and good citizens victims of crime, and the rare bad cop, we have plenty we could try to change, rather then flailing ourselves about the past.

Careful about being thankful for Trump. What if, in an incredible twist of fate, he is actually elected? I would not trust him to be in charge of a Fisher-Price Busy Box, let alone are armed forces.
