Reminds me of a post I saw awhile back (Not sure if it is literally true or allegorical, or that I got the specifics right, but it makes a point … wish I’d saved the source so I could give proper credit.)
Two brown-skinned individuals were conversing in a line at the Post Office. They were not speaking English.
The redneck in front of them turned and, outraged, said: “If you Mexicans want to speak Mexican, then GO BACK TO MEXICO. This is America and WE SPEAK ENGLISH.”
One of the individuals replied (in perfect English): “The language of Mexico is not Mexican. It is Spanish, imported here from Europe — from Spain.
We were not speaking Spanish. We were speaking NAVAJO. You know, the original language from around these parts.
If you want to speak ENGLISH, then GO BACK TO ENGLAND.”
