Republicans are always pushing personal responsibility and saying if you can’t better yourself where you are, move. Isn’t that what the immigrates are doing.
I wish I could add to this, but it tells the whole story pretty well. Other than mentioning that we kicked a lot of people off their own land before claiming it as ours.
The 1954 Guatemalan coup d’état, code-named Operation PBSuccess, was a covert operation carried out by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency that deposed the democratically elected Guatemalan President Jacobo Árbenz. ameriKan slaughter in Central America. One of hundreds of examples.
Prior to 1904 Panama was just a corner of Colombia. When Colombia wouldn’t cede the land to the US for the canal we supported “liberation” of the Panamanians in exchange for the canal right of way. Bully for us!
Disaster Pumpkin said he’d get Mexico to pay for his wall, and everyone thot it would be erected between the USA and Mexico. Turns out Mexico’s paying for the one between Mexico and Guatemala.
You know, this cartoon is having me think that if this Covid-19 crisis turns out to be a government job, it’s much more likely to be an American plot than a Chinese plot.
Maybe Maybe if we respected their democracies and treated them as friends we might have a stable southern border and stable neighbors. Look at Cuba we let our CIA backed mafia take land from the citizens and then whine they chose Castro.
I’ve read a fair amount of Central and South American literature (in translation). It seems like in every book set between the mid-1800’s and the mid-1900’s (and some after), there comes a stretch where everything is finally running pretty smoothly…and then the USA shows up.

I always thought of the US as more of a number two when it came to destabilizing Central American governments.

The governments down there are so desperate they think crypto-currency is going to solve their problems.
