Some of my favorite restaurants here in Madison, Wisconsin (pretty far north in the USA) had “Taqueria” as part of their names. I always just assumed it was Spanish for “restaurant”, but my wife — better versed in Spanish than I am — informed me that it means, ruffly, “a place that makes tacos”.
