The American trucker protest fizzled almost immediately. Most truckers decided they would rather make money hauling the backed up loads caused by the Canadian protests.
The Canadian protests started over “vaccine mandates”, even though the vast majority of truckers had already been vaccinated. Then, it became about “government oppression”. Finally, it became about making a lot of noise, terrorizing the locals, and getting your truck impounded. It’s nice to have clear goals.

The Canadian truckers are now in Canadian courts. One of them tried to excuse his actions citing his first amendments rights.
