I recently took my grandson for lunch at his first taco truck, in a neighborhood his parents wouldn’t approve of. He loved it, noted the people around us were speaking a different language. He admired all the tradesmans trucks parked at the curb. His mom wasn’t too happy with me, but his dad reminded her of our side of the familys blue collar roots.
I am puzzled by the government approach “don’t feed babies anything else but don’t try to make your own”. You’d think there would public service videos all over the country showing you how to safely make baby formula. There were millions of healthy babies during World War II when mothers had to work and no time to nurse.
The story goes, I went pretty much straight from formula to solids. Apparently, I really, really, really didn’t like baby food. Which turns out may have had something to do with baby food of the time having a lot of sugar in it. Sadly, I have gotten over the not liking sugar thing, perhaps too well in my middle age. :-/
