Warehousing is the 21st century version of fieldwork. Just replace working under the hot sun to working on a hard concrete floor. Either way, breaks a person down.
From the descriptions of warehouse work in the press, it’s not too different than when I did it a summer in college, in the ‘80s. Mainly that they’re hired directly, rather than through an agency as I was.
Doesn’t mean I begrudge them better wages and conditions. Just it’s same as it ever was, rather than ‘news’. Guess the labor finally being sick of it is news.
