And to think China itself has a national surveillance all over the place given you no privacy whatsoever.

Frankly, what’s scarier is how much surveillance is being done not by governments but by corporations. They know much more about you.

Hell, Britain has cameras in 90% of public places, and many businesses.

Baby, it’s totally that way in the whole world today. Get used to it. In fact the US is way behind Europe and China on surveillance cameras.

Everyone in London complains about the surveillance cameras but it sure is handy when someone steals your car.

Knowledge is like every other tool from fire and the wheel thru guns and hammers to nuclear fission and the Internet. It can be used for either good or ill. The trick is to figure out who’s using the tool and for what purpose.

nearly every article about crime here in japan mentions that the police used surveillance cameras, including dash cams, to solve the crime. these days, you have to be the invisible person if you want to commit a crime. the other day a guy got it in his head that it’d be a great idea to throw burning newspaper into a koban, a corner police station. every koban is equipped with a cam and the newspaper chucker who was of course caught on film made it easy for the cops by wearing lots of weird and easily identifiable items of clothing…
