On the one hand Barry Mainlow really isn’t THAT bad despite all the shots at him media has taken .. on the other I write the songs IS henious enough to use as torture so the gag works.
I’ve never cared for Mr. Manilow, but he at least performed actual songs, unlike today’s “hits.” Two chords, repeated ad nauseum, and they’re up for a grammy.
Oddly enough, “I Write the Songs” was written by Bruce Johnston (Beach Boys) for Captain & Tennille. David Cassidy released his version of it six months before Barry.

And just remember … “Big-M” can be shorted to just “BM”, which describes his music perfectly.

Ever gone to Disney? I still have “It’s a Small Small World” stuck in my head.

I liked Barry back in the day. His live shows were best. I also like Nickelback. Yes, I dare to be different.

What’s the phrase again…“Cruel and unusual punishment”? Or was it “Crimes against humanity”?

To pull out Bloom County’s Billy and the Boingers’ setlist, it’s “Hari Kari for Barry”.

….Judd Nelson’s John Bender said it all on the subject (to the horse’s a@@ principal): “Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?”

My eyes hurt just from reading those lyrics.

Nah, true torture is making them listen to “Barbie Girl” on a repeating track.

I fail to see the torture.
