Tom, don’t be so sure. It could have been Bart, and not Dennis. Simpson knows his way around a slingshot. But then Tatulli would have been dealing with a whole other set of lawyers. The 50’s Dennis is way cooler than Bart Simpson would have been though.
That third panel has an almost Mad Magazine quality to it, with the lines drawing attention to the implement of destruction.
Dennis needs that ‘not me’ ghost from Family Circus to get him out of this one.

That was close, Lio….

It does kinda fit the Mitchell kid’s M.O., doesn’t it?
Sisyphos about 15 years ago
It has to have been that Mitchell kid! (Of course, there is the matter of Lio’s fingerprints on the slingshot, if it ever comes to that….)
i_am_the_jam about 15 years ago
And he was trying to get cookies by breaking the window? I thought Lio was smart…
IncredibleWerekitty about 15 years ago
Actually it looks like it was an accident, rather than actual intent.

That’s what Dennis gets for keeping his slingshot, unused, in his back pocket. It falls out too easily.

Poor Dennis is saying, “It wasn’t me!”

We have entered a new era…cartoon profiling. Dang, can a sketch catch a break!?!?!?!
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
I knew that this would have to happen sooner or later.
I wonder what would happen if you stick Lio, Calvin, and Dennis together in the same room and locked the door.
Which one of them would survive?
mancocapac about 15 years ago
It’s about time DtM was taken away. Now if only newspapers would follow suit and make room for new comics.

I wonder if Dennis’s one phone call will be to Mr. Wilson..
Sherlock Watson about 15 years ago
I can just see Mr. Wilson leading the neighbors in a conga line, with everyone chanting “No more Dennis Mit-chell! No more Dennis Mit-chell!”
Thomas H Wolper about 15 years ago
I’m glad Mark drew the ’50s Dennis. I doubt the Dennis of today would have a slingshot or know what to do with it.
aerwalt about 15 years ago
steelbladeoffury: The three of them would survive. Not so sure about the rest of us.
whardin1960 about 15 years ago
To be fair a slingshot doesn’t fit Lio. Now if they found a portable particle accelerator on the sidewalk, sure, book’em Danno!

Love Lio’s eyes in the second panel.
