I gave up Twitter and FB 4-5 years ago, though I did tweet for a month during the Football World Cup. Out again! I don’t watch TV news. Stick strictly to BBC website for current news and newspapers for local/national news.
This is despite the fact that I used to be head of internet and also was editorial in charge of web operations for a prominent South Indian newspaper group till about 5 years ago!
I’m pretty sure the newspapers are not the most reliable source either, but compared to FB and Twitter, there are some human interest stories that have not be politicized beyond all recognition. I use multiple sources and try to glean the truth from that. :)
I wouldn’t want to live without my morning newspaper. (Of course, I also read a wide range of columns online, left, right, and center.) But our comics section in our paper is as weak these days as it’s been in my lifetime. (At least, I assume that: they print the comics so small I can’t read the dang things!)
When I tell people that I do not have a Facebook account they look at me like I am from another planet. Some people are so hooked on Facebook if it went down long some people would kill them self.
There are some court cases here in the Bay Area concerning whether an employer can require an employee to have a social network account. The issues may be whether the employer can require it, and whether the employer can specify which social media giant the employee must use, I’m not sure.

Luckily for me, I don’t do Twitter. But I do get lost on Facebook either by desktop or iPhone at times.

You should do the same, Lio. It’ll cause less pain for your brain.
