I’ve not been paying attention to that thing in my apartment in some amount of years. When at the parents’ house or someone else’s house, that when I pay attention.

“I am gross and perverted. I am obsessed and deranged. I have existed for years but very little has changed. I’m the tool of the government and industry too. For I am designed to rule and regulate you… I’m the best you can get. Have you guessed me yet? I’m the slime oozing out from your TV set.”

I don’t have cable, satellite or any other sort of regular TV. I have a TV set to watch DVDs, and sometimes I stream something on the computer. I don’t miss it a bit. The worst torture for me is being in a car repair shop, a doctor’s office, a restaurant, or innumerable other places that think they have to have a TV blaring all the time. If other people are not present (which unfortunately isn’t often), I will ask for the remote and turn the stupid thing off. I am thankful that I do have one doctor whose office has neither radio nor TV. I would almost go there any day without an appointment just for the quiet! Of course, there are still the idiot patients and family members with their noisy cell phone games, but I have found either a polite “could you please turn that down?” or, if needed, a withering glare, will put that to a stop soon, too. God help us all when any of these devices develop tentacles to envelop us…I will surely commit hari-kari!
