Let’s see if I got this right: Death stalks all on the earth, but Charon runs the ferry to Hades. Death (mostly) comes un-bidden, but ya gotta pay to toll to get to where you are meant to go. …if I remember Bulfinches Mythology, et al, correctly.

I would think Death already had a lot of these – unless this one’s a special collector’s item …
