Somebody mentioned the state of the Princess’ undress the other day. Remember, this was the days when public decency laws were so much stricter. What we now splash across movie screens, newsstands and even home TV screens was not considered fit for decent people back then. The princess would have been seen as a child, and only a “wrong” type of person would have imagined her with an adult figure. For them, it would be like viewing a baby as a sexual object. Sorry to introduce that subject here, but it was brought up.
It was meant more of a sardonic comment. I’ve seen McCay’s animated footage of centaurs, and he draws the females the same way. Au Natural, but with only the vaguest feminine body shape.
Dogday88,You are quite correct. Even when I started reading comics circa 1945, that was the prevailing opinion. Most ‘comic books’ made to that time were actually only compilations of daily & sunday newspaper strips; so I got a good taste of the older ones.
