I grew up in rural dairy country. When my college friends from the city came home with me for weekends, the friends ALWAYS mooed when they saw cows. I never did tell them that folks in the country don’t do that.
My late springer spaniel, Samantha, loved it when we visited friends when they lived in the rural edge of Lansdale, Pa. and had cows as neighbors. Sammie would run to the fence and woof! woof! at the cows who would come over and smilingly stare at her. Once, she got through the fence and ran around barking and they just stared at her. : )

I can’t moo at cattle any more thanks to Gary Larson and his “yakkity yak yak yak” cartoon.

Golden Oldie, from the City vs. Country genre:
City Slicker (to Farmer): That’s a nice bunch of cows.
Farmer: Herd!
-City Slicker:_ What?
Farmer: Herd! Herd of cows!
City Slicker: Do you think I’m stupid? Of course I’ve heard of cows!
