When we are doing reenactments it is not uncommon to make a cap for one’s cup out of a piece of leather – wet, and made to the shape-size of one’s cup (we each bring our own “mess kit” – period looking cup, dish, bowl, utensils) so beverages can be left out without anything falling into them – whether it be leaves, twigs or worse.

When I saw the first drop I thought it was a bird dropping. Rain was a welcome relief.
