Is that kid really using an old fashion wired controller? I thought wireless controllers were standard nowadays. The last time I used a wired controller was when I owned a PSone fifteen years ago.
When I was a kid living in Hollister, Missouri in the early 1970’s, we DID have only 3 stations to watch. Saturday nights were the bomb… Two stations had the same episode of Hee-Haw, and the third station had The Lawerence Welk Show…
Those huge, blocky mobile phones were the 1980’s. So were the first “portable” computers that you could lug around like a suitcase – bigger than most desktop computers today. If you want to go back with phones, mention the dial, or further back with party lines (I barely remember those in our house), or the crank style to get an operator (the original Siri?).
The point was to make it sound not that old. Like the geezer was only going back to the eighties, but hey, thats old now too. You geezettes. Figured I was making a mistake with the wire controller (i’m not a gamer) but I left it in. I like to do that; leave in mistakes.
I was born January 1949. When I was a kid, TV was black and white from 5am to 11pm. Off the air the rest of the time. Radio was AM only. Rotary dial phones. Computers was pretty much a science fiction thing. TV became color when I was in high school. Cable TV didn’t come to our area until I was in my 30’s. I could go on.

If that’s what things were like when he was a kid, then I’m older than he is.
