Well, it IS mostly (vegetable) oil and yellow dye. Plus a few drops of flavoring. (2,3-butanedione, 3-hydroxybutanone) And for that, the legal requirement to call it “natural & artificial butter flavor” is that it has to contain something like 0.2% real butter constituents. Otherwise they have to call it “natural butter type flavor” and there don’t need to be any traces of butter-derived substances in your “popcorn butter” at all.
Fish Stix: Duh! This is a COMIC STRIP. Please don’t confuse it with reality. Of COURSE real theater’s don’t do this. Many people wonder, however, what the “butter” in theater popcorn is. So this is a COMIC answer to that unspoken question. Geez!! Relax!! Have a Coke & a smile!! …or go away.
Dave Blazek - Thank you again for yet another great comic!
Easy guys … or every time I use Popcorn Butter as hair gel, I’ll get a bad memory. And thanks for the compliment treB. I’ll try to come up with more ideas the way I came up with this one … by writing in the garage with the cars running.
the next investigative expose at the theater is what makes up the stuff they put on nachos. it tastes good but it’s definitely not cheese nor good for you.
Fish Stix, I thought Backwards was doing a parody of someone else’s likely answer to your parody. My clue was the “Have a Coke and a smile” part of the comment.
