Joe, it looks like you opened up a can of worms with the flagging of other peoples posts. If you are brave enough to do that then you should be brave enough to say exactly whose posts you have flagged.
I am sure that we would all like to return the favour. I am not small minded enough to go round flagging all your posts but I am sure tempted and I am also fairly certain that quite a few other people would feel the same way.
So, I suggest you appologise for your flagging before we ALL start flagging your posts in future.
If anyone agrees with me, simply reply with a “here here”
Ah, Happy, nothing like threatening someone to get them to stop flagging you. Blackmail is such a lovely characteristic. What were you political views again? I need to decide how to vote next time.
I am not threatening anybody to get them to stop flagging me. Being flagged for simply typing your views is rather pathetic. Flagging is for the stupid spammers and not for genuine posters.
And if blackmail is your idea of my pointing out the error of his ways then you need to wonder what it would be like if everybody flagged posters when they disapproved of what they wrote. Maybe even leading to people being banned. In my view that is not free speach, that is censorship. Do you like the idea of being censored ? or do you prefer to live in a democracy ?
I simply find it very small minded that anybody would flag another poster because they do not like their views. If I had done that to Joe then I would have been the flagging king of GoComics. If you live in a democracy, which I do, you have the right to speak your mind without the fear of censorship.
Thanks to rotts for correcting my Here, Here to Hear, Hear. I had not realised my mistake and I appreciate the time and effort required to correct me even though I knew the correct call (it is most used in the English houses of parliament)
freeholder1……..I decided against flagging your “Oh, I flagged you for it.” post (which I have only just noticed) because I am not small minded and really do believe in the principles of free speach. Maybe you do too but if you did flag it then you do not practice the principles of it very well, do you?
One problem with flagging is that it makes comments on the comment incomprehensible and assessment of the protesting comment impossible.
I rarely FLAG anything other than spam. I did flag an extremely racist comment at another site today.
For the most part I think speech should be as free as possible. The solution to terrible speech is more speech.
Sometimes commenting on stupid and obnoxious speech is counterproductive. Sometimes I just don’t want to waste energy or incur the wrath that is returned. Sometimes I regret my own speech.
Why flag all of the stupid comments. Leave them alone and let everyone see how stupid they are. I will not let anyone else tell me what is stupid and what is not.
By the way, if this gets flagged, I’ll post the same thing again!
1) “YAWN”
2) Don”t F*&^ with Joe, he may see things differently than you, but he’s a vet So (especially today) he’s a friend of mine and millons of others.
take yer small mind somewhere else and play with it.
There is some confusion here…. When you flag a post that calls it to the attention of the website administrators. If you start a mass flagging campaign that will merely annoy the administrators and wasting time on the false alarms will make it more difficult for them to keep the place spam-free. If you work at it you could annoy them enough to ban you….
Some people don’t like opposing views because they are afraid of truth. I read The Nation and The New Republic. The liberal rag in my city won’t publish all my letters. That is their right. Freedom of the press is for those who own a press. The Internet affords everyone a chance to express a viewpoint. That doesn’t mean some small minded person won’t flag you because they are threatened by different ideas. Take it with pride the next time your words are so powerful somebody tries to silence you.

Let me flag or let me skip over the nauseating– difficult. Keep everyone on the same page–impossible Entertainment for all—priceless.

Yes, anyone is free to speak. It doesn’t mean we have to listen (is anyone there?)
