Teenage girls do NOT dress to impress boys. They say they do, but they are really trying to fit in socially with the GIRLS. Teenage girls who are confident and popular set the style for others in their social circle, and can be absolutely VICIOUS to any who defy their edicts. Girls have been driven to suicide by such behavior.
Boys are much the same, of course. They pose as athletes or gamers or what have you, and pretend its to attract the girls (most of whom would prefer that they act like themselves, not some parody), but they are actually trying desperately to fit into the mold that society expects of them, and avoid labels like “wimp”, “gay”, “loser”, or whatever modern equivalents are out there.
ADOLESCENCE IS HELL!! But if you want to get through it with a significant other you actually LIKE, try remembering to see that person AS a person, an individual with personal desires, quirks, foibles, and traits that are not defined by gender.
And why did no one point this out to me 40 years ago, when it would have maybe helped?

Forgetting to replace the oil drain cap probably didn’t help your case any.

It’s all about power. Teen girls may not know that specifically but it’s an intuition that goes with the gender. Later on they know it.
