I used to do something similar with my braids (tied them in a square knot to keep them out of the way) – very long time ago. Back then, my hair reached the bottom of my rear end, when it was braided. Reached almost to my knees when unbraided. Now I keep it so short you can’t even grab it (almost crew cut). But my arthritic shoulders sure like it short! LOL

I tried that with my doxie a lot when I was a kid. they wouldn’t stay tied. He liked it when I played with his ears.

Frankly, I’m surprised Lindy hasn’t been bitten. Puddles is a sweet natured little dog but even he’s got his limits and Lindy has really tested those.
