Back in the day, before slot machines, our corner store had punch boards. I was way too young to be allowed to try them, but remember watching adults giving them a go. I wonder if they still exist?

A big box store here has machines that sell lottery tickets. It says something like “Must be 18 to play”. But, there is not anything to prevent someone under 18 from using it, except, perhaps, store employees. I tried it a few times. (I am over 18.) In a grocery store, I saw a similar machine. But, the slot to insert my money wasn’t working. I told a store employee that, and she the machine has to scan my ID.

Nobody, until he hit the jackpot.
