Knute: Gunth, do you like Luann? Gunther: I do. I always have. Although she can be difficult... Gunther: she's often shallow and self centered and she's not really that bright. She can be petty, competitive, mean, insecure and insensitive. Gunther: And, of course, she's completely indifferent to me. Knute: Wow. I can see why you like her.
She is all of those things sometimes but not all of the time. The rest of the time she can be pretty nice. Overtherainbow is right about her not being attracted to him. She wants to be attracted to him because she likes aspects of his personality but there are other aspects that makes her just want to be friends. The problem with Gunther is that he thinks if he does one big gesture, she’s supposed to fall in love with him and when she doesn’t, he gets mad at her. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be with someone who got mad at me if I didn’t thank him effusively enough for things that were nice but are meant to make me feel obligated to him.
