My wife feels that any gift flowers etc. on a Holiday or Birthday is meaningless, because it is expected. The ones she finds meaningful are the ones at random times. I am so blessed I can never be late. I just have to remember to do something neat several times a year.

Not only did Brad forget, but Toni LET him forget the next day? A man who forgets valentine’s days usually hears about within seconds on Feb 15th. Toni must not care herself. It’s one thing for a man to forget, it’s quite another for a woman to LET him forget.

On Feb. 14th, Gunther was considering backing out on his Krav Maga class. We were all forced to miss out on Valentines Day and other things for weeks to come in the Luann strip due to the Gunther, Rosa, and Leslie story arc.

Brad should invite Toni to go out for dinner at some very nice restaurant. And when he comes to her door to pick her up. Hand her a nice bouquet of long stemmed roses. If she asks why? He should answer, “Just because.” // If he mentions his faux pas of forgetting Valentine’s day. Then she will know he is only doing it out of guilt feelings and not love!

Forget about Valentines Day. Just another “Special-day-to-remember-so-you’ll-spend-money” invented by people who sell flowers and chocolate. Keep going Brad. She wants YOU, not just another dumb toon guy (ehhhh – OOOPS)

Greg – did YOU forget Valentine’s Day during the Gunther arc? Did your WIFE get all hissy and you went OOPSIE? You added the topic into this arc as a forethought? Are we going to see Toni go “harmmph!” when Brad apologizes for forgetting V-Day? A commentator says apparently Toni forgot, too but I doubt it – as a woman, she would expect Brad to give her the V-Day gift FIRST and since he did not, she more likely stepped back and did nothing, perhaps figuring V-Day means zip to Brad. Many women know many men dislike V-Day, are of opinion that V-Day is a sissy holiday, a dumb holiday, etc, so it is not so farfetched that Toni may have thought Brad is one those guys – and might even be glad she didn’t give him anything.

At this remove (almost six weeks later) Brad’s failure to take note of Valentine’s Day with Toni (and her reciprocal similar failure, it seems) is of no practical significance, though there is a lesson to be learned for the next significant calendric event.

That was over a month ago. If she hasn’t already let him know that it bothers her, it doesn’t. But Brad will blunder this one. He will now try to by a belated Valentines day gift. The gift will stink and Brad will reopen a wound that has already healed.

I was going to say, no worries, Valentine’s Day (at least in east Asia) is where women give gifts to men and White Day (March 14th) is where the men give gifts to the women. But even that was two weeks ago. Good news, Brad: Black Day (April 14th) is coming up because you won’t be in /any/ relationship by then. But if you kiss and make up in time, you might just be able to celebrate Rose Day (May 14th).

I would love to see Brad rush out to buy something for Toni, sweating buckets and in an agony of guilt, get her something nice, and rush to her house only to find out that against all the odds today is her birthday (which he had also forgotten:) )) And find out that TJ had known that all along…

Reallllly? Is that why Brad can’t tell his mother to lay off insulting his girlfriend, because his primary thought is to impress her? Is that why Brad demanded that Toni take a snootful of Ann Eiffel’s abuse and never darken the doors of Weenie World again, because he thinks of her every minute of the day? .Brad will never stand up for Toni if he can avoid a hassle instead by asking her to just ignore a conflict. Brad wanted a “peaceful” work environment rather than have to tell his abusive boss that no one’s allowed to push his girl around. Brad, in short, is a real doofus, and most of the time he’s pretty damn cluelsss. So yeah, this IS “logical”.

Conflict avoidance may not equal to not caring but it IS a character flaw of which most women don’t care for, including myself. Most women respect and find it sexy for men to have a backbone. Brad doesn’t so we will see how longer their relationship will last – either Brad grows one or next time he dives for cover, Toni walks.

Brad did show his need to protect Toni when it came to Dirk. It was man vs man…staking a claim on a female. Time-old conflict between two guys. But when it came to his boss rudeness towards Toni, he stood and did nothing. He did not even tell Ann Toni was is girlfriend – called her a friend. One has to wonder why he didn’t want Ann to know Toni was his girlfriend at first. Toni should have been offended – but Greg apparently chose not to go that path. Brad should have introduced Toni has his girlfriend and pointed out that she was also there to order something, hinting to Toni to please go and order something which would diffused the situation. Ann would have clammed up when Brad informed her Toni may be visiting him but was also ordering something, but he didn’t do any of that. He pressured Toni not to do anything or say anything. He sure turned a 360 from the situation with Dirk which was why I think the thing with Dirk was just a “guy thing.”

My point is that a willingness to throw your woman under the bus at the slighest provocation, and even denying that she IS your girlfriend, as ZacBSM pointed out, does not demonstrate the level of passionate care and ardent, all-consuming attention that Leviticus was attributing to Brad.

Oh, that option thing is a given because women also exercise it, heh heh so no surprise there. But since the other poster was sure that his deathless and undying love would be demonstrated 24/7 so he’d never miss Valentine’s Day, it’s clear that’s not the case – “male option” or not. .But I do think that Brad is more clueless and has a greater dorkiness factor than the average guy – largely because it’s a comic, his failings have to be hyperbolic for Greg to be able to play off them.

Your every word speaks for me today. My only regret is that I didn’t say them. Will say this: I would have rather faced up to a rabid large animal barehanded (have really done that), than deal with conflicts with my Mother or ex-wife or any other woman. Can’t use physical force, and a man will never win a game of words with a woman.

TJ looks chagrined (does that mean he lost his grin?) that Brad forgot Toni on Valentine Day. It’s a stretch that Brad forgot – as somebody mentioned, it gets a whale of a lot of advertising – the chocolate, flower and card vendors can’t bear to have us forget!

That is what I call a reach of epic proportions. Valentine’s Day is literally shoved down men’s throats and it is an obligation if you are in a relationship. If Brad lhas not talked to Toni in over 2 weeks then without her dropping hints then Toni has found someone else by then. (Dirk?)
