Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for March 17, 2013
March 16, 2013
March 18, 2013
Transcript:
Bernice: "LUANN! What happened to you?"
Luann: "I used 'Mega Volume' shampoo, 'loads-o-lashes' mascara and 'pump the pout' lip gloss"
Luann: "Ugh. I gotta stop reading these magazines before bedtime..."
Actually in the latter part of April 1999, Tiffany did encourage Luann to improve her look. That is about the time Luann lost the big curls in her hair. In one of the strips during that time Aaron even mistook Luann for Tiffany.
@TOTBC….IMHO, it does look like she may have tried the breast-enlargement cream…..lol but that topic was not openly mentioned….seeing as this is a family-oriented cartoon.
Strange way to celebrate 28 years… I was expecting a small tribute. Of course, this would have been a good time to introduce a “new look Luann” but, not THAT one!
I used to read Seventeen back in high school, but I never really read it for the fashions or the beauty tips, although the tips on boys were helpful. I read it more for the articles, stories, and columns. I’ll never forget the short stories I read. Seventeen was where I was first introduced to Jodi Picoult and Margaret Atwood. But you’ll be hard-pressed to find any good articles or short stories in today’s Seventeen. Now it’s just all about make-up, fashions, and boys—and Luann and other real-life girls are taking it all in and ending up with a look like the one we see here. Exaggerated, yes, but still taking it in.
28yrs of this, wow, this is crazy how these old over the hill comics drag on,time to retire Evans an make room for talented new comics^^Mercedes, you little troll, if you’re going to constantly insult this strip (Which I happen to love, btw), then just stop reading it, and shut up!

Bernice is now at least a little out of luck. The printed version of Newsweek went belly-up on January 1 of this year.

32" monitor?! Wow. I could use one of those and write without having to locate my glasses first. Dang.

@LeviticusIn 28 more years I’ll be 99! If I’m still around that would make it even more enjoyable, for me at least…maybe.

@EMJAYCEE:Me too. By the way Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. I watched the parade in New York City on TV and enjoyed it as usual.
If I had a nightmare about myself I would have died of fright.

This happens in real life – a friend’s little girl suddenly was allowed make-up and turned into Tammy Faye Baker overnight.
