I don’t sure at which I’m more stunned: Luann not admitting that things are going (as she quoted) great with her and Quill, or that she has a lot a prize tickets.
“We spend lots of time together.” And as we have seen, of course, Luann spends all that time telling Quill that he isn’t spending nearly enough time with her. Inner beauty!
I’m glad Luann’s happy. She has the guy, now she just needs to find a possible career path. Has she considered becoming a dental hygienist, registered nurse, engineer (She has strong spatial abilities!), career military, real estate agent, masseuse, etc?
Well, IS Katie finally decided it was too cold to be outside any longer tonight and finally decided to come in! Have my electric blanket all geared up…nothing better than a nice warm EB on a cold night! ‘Nite all!-—————————————————————————-“Why didst thou promise such a beauteous day, And make me travel forth without my cloak To let base clouds o’ertake (sic) me in my way, Hiding thy bravery in their rotten smoke?"(William Shakespeare, 1564-1616)
There are basketball arcade games designed that way – the basket is stationary at first then later starts moving to make it harder to keep a consistent shooting rhythm.
She’s not selling it and Brad isn’t buying it. Luann’s taking her Quill frustration out on the hoops – but she should at least get a stuffed animal out of it!
My sister did that to a bunch of guys at Coney Island way back when. She’s all of 5’3" and was at the basketball hoop booth when a bunch of tall guys said to each other “she can’t hit that shot.” Dad and I slowly backed away grinning to each other. She sank every shot, nothing but net, didn’t even touch the rim. The guys slinked off with their proverbial tails between their legs as she smiled at them… of course Dad and I knew better, having watched her nail 100 free throws in a row without missing.
While I presume that we are to take today’s comic at face value…. and that things ARE going well with Luann and Quill…. my first take on this was more along this possibility…. perhaps Luann is just SAYING things are great because she either a) is embarrassed to talk about what is really going on with her and Quill (perhaps it is not so good), or b) she is just avoiding a discussion about Quill because she is not sure what is going on. I mean… it seems to me that would be hard for things to be going “great” at this time when the last few “Luann Weeks” have been so transitional for her…and for Quill… new schools, new darn near everything…. perhaps not a whole lot of time yet to really spend together.
IN REGARDS TO THOSE SAYING THEY ARE “BORED” WITH THIS ARC…. Not me!!!!! This is far more exciting a story arc than was the week of “flashbacks”. So, I am very contented at the moment. I do admit, however, to also hoping for next week to perhaps be more dorm room story for Bernice, or more Gunther/Rosa.
> I have no doubt now that Gunther will have a similar line in the future, that he says while nervously sweating>Gunther will say how well things are going with Rosa, while sitting at his sewing machine and threading a needle.
Activist, I can’t reply to your specific post but here is the update on the ferret: After determining the ferret made a better room mate than Dez, Bernice asked to have it made her room mate. They have since become best friends and even share movie night together.
Hahahaha! Or, migrated to the beach for cool breezes and lots of fish and clams, like the Native-Americans used to do before their land was stolen from them… ;)
I was thinking of the stuff that happened beginning in the 17th century to the East Coast Native-Americans . And, I know most people’s ancestors had nothing to do with all of that. However, on my father’s side of the family, there were direct relatives who fought against the French and Native-Americans in the French and Indian War. Unfortunately, for the Native Americans, they picked the wrong side. My family prospered after that as did many others. However, that was a very long time ago and time tends to make history a little bit softer… Just saying… ;)
Actually, we had a Nissan truck for the longest time… But, I don’t know what a Native-American (actually, I prefer the Canadian description: First Nations) would think about Japanese Indians… ;)
I’m 24 hours late commenting here, and I haven’t read “today’s” strip yet, but I think you’re all (but 2 or 3) wrong in your interpretations. I think the second panel indicates that she and Quill are not spending time together and that’s why she has become so good at making the basket. And Brad’s expression in the last panel indicates he “gets it”. So now I’ll read on and how wrong I am.
